It's time to escape the steamy streets of Manhattan for some salt air and a little sun and fun in the water.
This time we will be joined by the Gotham Vollyball Team as well as the New York Gay

Mark your calendar for

shades to view those heavenly bodies under the sun. Front Runners are off to a day at Jones Beach.
The cost is $10.50 round trip for all public transportation. We will depart from Penn Station on the 10:06
AM train and arrive in Freeport at 10:51 AM then transfer to the bus to Jones Beach. We will take the

Ffu"4'fWATEfi STATION' AT :i.niLE 'l.tl~:tiT1-Fr { ~5 ) , Sunthiy, Nov. o. Yeb,
we've moved (this year only). This is the 26th running of the NYC Marathon. Road
Runners wants the 25-mile station to be distinctjve. What more festive group of people than
FRNY could there be to staff this conspicuously important aid station? Of course we
accepted.
It's exciting. An arch of silver balloons will hang over the course at mile 25, a silver
line will be painted across the road, the tables will have silver cloths, and the aid station
co-captains will be outfitted in tuxedos (a first for the dyke in this duo). There will be a DJ
and music, and other surprises.
Your station co-captains, Debbie Bell and Paul Racine, are looking for scads of you
to volunteer. We'd prefer a commitment of three hours or more for setup (9-12:00), race
(11:30-2:30), or cleanup (2-5) shifts, but you can name your hours. Do call us to volunteer,
however, so that we'll know we have enough people on each shift (especially the last one).
Those who sign up first will get marathon T-shirts and ponchos, as long as supplies last.
C2ll Debhie or Paul to volunteer. Support your club, support the marathon. Be seen
at the mile-25 water station! Debbie Bell (31-'~} 353-6S2~ & Pan l Racine (212) 362-4719

Congratulations and good luck to all FRNY marathoners! Marathoners and others
are invited to a NO REST FOR THE WEARY POST-MARATHON SPECIAL RUN on
Sunday, Nov. 13, at 11 a.m. at Charlie Wintczak's home in the Beacon Hotel (2130
Broadway, at 75th St., Apt. 415). There wiP be a run in Riverside Park (you choose the
distance/pace) followed by a light brunch. RSVP to Charlie at (212) 799-1215.
The regular FRNY November newsletter will be mailed on November 2.
