Front Runners New York's
20th Anniversary Lesbian &amp; Gay Pride Run.
Front Runners New York presents the 20th annual running
of the Lesbian &amp; Gay Pride Run on Saturday, June 23 at
9:30 a.m., starting at 97th Street and the East Drive in
Central Park.
This 5 mile annual event is a New York Road Runners Club men's and women's
team points race and is part of the Metropolitan Athletic Congress 2001 Grand Prix
Race Circuit. The race is presented with the cooperation of the New York Road
Runners Club and the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, and
proudly sponsored by CitiBank.
The Lesbian &amp; Gay Pride Run attracts a field of over 1,000 runners, with a course
record of24 minutes 15 seconds. Applications and check-in is at NYRRC, 9 East
89th Street on Friday, June 22, from noon to 7:00p.m., or at the race start, 9ih
Street and East Drive before 9:00a.m. on Saturday, June 23. This race is scored
with Championchip Scoring.
Prior to the 5 mile run, is the ninth annual2-mile Team NY Community Calling
Run to benefit the Front Runners Charitable Foundation. This run is a team run for
women and men of all athletic abilities, in which groups, organizations, and
businesses in the gay, lesbian and non-gay community enter into friendly
competition, showing esprit de corps as well as community spirit and pride.
